We are in
the
home stretch for 2006
But... It isn't over! Stay
Focused
and On Target!
as small business owners is repetitive and can
become
routine. I find myself needing a "gut check" to stay on
track
as well from time to time. After all, we are
all
human.
However, one of the best ways to stay on target
is to
have "concrete" goals and track your results. There is
an
old
truism in business: "If you don't track it, you
can't
manage it." These goals need to be written down and
visible
for
all to see. Simply "working harder" at
accomplishing undefined goals is not a good long term
strategy.
What are your business goals
for
2006? For 2007? How about for the next 5 years?
Do
you know? Does your team
know? Are they
written down?
If the answer is anything other than yes, the ship is being
sailed
without a compass
and where you end up is anyone's guess.
If this is the case, the good news is that the
solution
is easy. Take 30 minutes and go over your last 12- 24
months
results. Then look to the future and give yourself
aggressive but achievable milestones to shoot for. Put
tracking
devices in place to ensure accuracy and have
monthly or
quarterly team meetings to make sure you are on
track.
Lastly, hitting goals is a big deal. Make
sure
you have a reward system in place for your team and YOURSELF!

Berman won
last year's GMS
G.R.O.A contest
and chose a round-trip vacation to a
resort
called "Dreams" in Tulum, Mexico. This is a resort
about 1 1/2
hours south of
Cancun. Jackie and Craig accumulated
6,800
GROA points and we were delighted to reward them. This
vacation
package was arranged by GMS member, Jan
Mauer,
owner of Travel,
Ports, & Voyages and transportation services
were
provided by Al Peterman, owner of AE & L
Limousine. Many thanks to them for outstanding
service and
excellent
rates that made the vacation possible. GMS
simply
has the best members!
Every year we will have a new
contest

That's right!
Actually, Brian blew 2 motors in September! So, rather
than
call
it a season, we made the decision to switch
bikes. Hello Yamaha! In early
October we
purchased a 2006 YZ 450F.
Holy Carburetors
Batman! This bike is fast! First race on the new
horse
was
October 15th in Delaware at Blue Diamond Motocross
Park. Results?
Brian raced 3 classes and came in 2nd
overall in 2 of them and 4th in the other.
Very good for
the
first time out.
Little Marv took 3rd
overall and if he ever stops crashing, he may
actually get
a
win. Marvin crashed twice in his last moto and
charged
back from 7th to 3rd
and was within one turn of
2nd
place when the checkered flag was crossed.
Stay

as his speed has drastically increased in the last
few
weeks.

GMS Member, Kristine Yakovchuk of Noahs Ark Animal
Workshop
was in a bind. Her stove at home wasn't working. She
immediately
turned to the network for a solution and found Jon
Vawter,
owner of Reliance
Appliance. Jon could have scheduled a house call, but
thought he may have a solution if her husband was close by.
Kristine put her husband on the phone and Jon walked him through
the
problem over the phone and it didn't cost her a dime.
